TCS interview experience

The day when our Placement coordinator called us to the big Auditorium of our college to announce that TCS is awaiting for recruitment in our college there was a big-round of applause from our side.He also warned that this time due to recession the recruitment is going to be strict and the number is going to half of that last year's count. He also said about the steps in recruitment process...
1.Initial screening Test(Testing for eligibility criteria)
2.Aptitude Test (This time the pattern is completely changed...he said)
                                     3.Technical + General HR
When we started preparing seriously , there was an announcement that, there is no Aptitude for Top 5 candidates in each department. But I was not there is that slot. There is no time to feel sad about it. So i looked forward to clearing Aptitude test. I studied R.S.Aggarwal for being strong in the basic concepts. I concentrated more in the chapters like Time & Work, Time & Distance , Numbers, Probability, Permutation & Combination , Alligation & Mixture , Boats and Streams, Partnership, Average, Ratio.  I also studied Profit & Loss and Percentage to some extent. Then I started to look for some Aptitude questions which other students got in various colleges.
Meanwhile I also kept in touch with my Domain Subjects. I had chosen Data Structures and OOPs as my domain .I also learned other Technical Subjects like OS and DBMS. This was very tough time for us. We doesn’t know who is going to be selected. We helped each other by explaining their domain subjects to all others. I explained OOPs to others .Those moments are really memorable one. I also clarified my doubts in aptitude with my class boys. I thank them for clearing my doubts .Since I was quite confident in clearing my Technical interview I concentrated more on Aptitude. Those days each and every moment was fearful. Nobody knows what is going to happen. Then the day came for my Aptitude test.
We again asked to stand according to our reference numbers. Then we made to sit in front of the system and we were given rough sheets. Then the time came for me to login. Those 80 min can make me to go near my dream. I just selected the option only when I am sure of it. Because in TCS we have  –ve marks and Dummy questions. If you attend any Dummy questions then you will be eliminated. After completing my Aptitude Test I had lunch with 75% of confident in clearing my App test. Then there was an announcement in our hostel that the results are ready and we were asked to move to the Auditorium. We sat in Audi with chill hands doesn’t know how to react. Again our Placement coordinator had results in his hands. He said the count is too low. Only 85 got through the test out of 350.There was a murmuring sound everywhere. He started reading out the names. When I heard the name “Deepika Durairaj” I stood up happily.
On Monday we had App test and on Wed we will have interview. In that half  day of Monday  I concentrated in my Projects, Paper Presentation (What is there in my resume). On Tuesday I fully spent in learning my domain subjects and brushed up basic concepts in Core Java and other technical subjects. The preparation goes till 2.00 to 3.00 AM midnight.
The next day is my day. I got up I had no confidence in clearing my interview. My mind was completely blocked. I just had tears in my eyes. I don’t know whether it’s due to tension or something else. Then I convinced myself then I was ok. My mind was stable. Finally we sat in Seminar hall. All TCS HR came in van. Then some important HR took seats in the dais of seminar hall. They played few videos of TCS. The video was about TCS achievements. After their introductory speech each candidate is allotted to different panels. Finally I went to panel 1 out of 7 panels. In my other blog you can see my interview questions.
At 5.00 pm we again went to Seminar hall to get our results. We were waiting for a long time in seminar hall. I was preparing my mind to accept any result and praying to god for my name to be heard in mike. Finally our placement coordinator took the stage and he said so many confident stories to make our result announcement delay just to thrill us and I heard my name “Deepika Durairaj” in mike. Some students were crying while coming out of the seminar hall and others went out happily. I was waiting to inform my selection news to my family members. This is how the days gone for TCS.

Mullai periyar Dam….(120ft or 142 ft)

MullaiPeriyar Dam which is nearly 116 years old dam located in kerala now currently holds the water level of 136ft.But now the Kerala government creates a fear among the people that the dam is not so strong to hold the water level of 136ft therefore it should be reduced to 120ft.But the Tamilnadu Government opposes this stating that the dam is so strong that it can handle water level even up to 142ft to 152ft. Moreover water from the MullaiPeriyar Dam is enjoyed by the five districts in Tamilnadu namely Theni,Dindigul ,Ramanathapuram,Sivagangai and one more. If Kerala government suddenly creates such a fear among keralites then how will these districts in Tamilnadu be peacefull. If it stops providing services from Mullaiperiyar dam to Tamilnadu then electricity from NLC to Kerala can be stopped.Due to this there was a fight among keralites and tamilians. No state can be happy without the help from other state.Infact half the population of kerala are in Tamilnadu and in the district of “IDUKKI” in kerala the number of tamilians and keralites are equal. The safety engineers from kerala assured that dam is weak. But that result is a faulty one.The engineers from Tamilnadu and Central assured that ,the dam is safe enough to hold water level of 142ft to 152ft.Even Tamilnadu government has contributed some amount for strengthening of dam.Everything lies in the hands of central government in resolving these problems smoothly and to create a friendly relationship between two states. According to me the natural resoureces should be kept common. It should be effectively used and it has to be shared among others.
